How the preschool stream works

Our preschool classes are small on purpose. The gym is compact, class sizes are set around the number of children a coach can genuinely attend to, and the first three classes include a parent, guardian or sibling over 12 in the gym alongside the child.

Enhanced cleaning protocols are in place for all preschool age classes, on top of our regular cleaning. Mats are sanitised between classes, props are single use and sanitised daily, hand sanitiser is used before and after water breaks, and the gym is vacuumed daily.

Children move to the next class when they are developmentally ready, not on a fixed date. If you are not sure where your child fits, send us a text or message and we will help.

A parent and baby gymnastics class for babies starting to explore texture, movement and their environment. Guided activities support early motor development on soft, padded equipment sized for little hands and feet.

It is also a social class. Many families come as much for the other parents as for the gymnastics.

Classes include meeting other parents with similar aged children, learning to follow a gymnastics circuit, starting basic group games, sensory enrichment for sight, touch, hearing and smell, and safe soft areas and obstacles to explore.

Quality time with your preschooler and a light workout for you. Parents work alongside their children learning gymnastics and acrobatic skills, guided by a coach through activities designed to build physical, social, emotional and communication skills together.

The first class where your child works with a coach on their own. Super Flyers builds the basics that underpin every athletic program, and does it at an age where those foundations stick.

Alongside the physical skills, children practise listening, taking turns and following instructions from an adult who is not their parent, which is often the real milestone of this class.

Preschool gymnastics questions

What should my preschooler wear to gymnastics?

Something cool, comfortable and easy to move in. A snug t-shirt and shorts, or a leotard or bodysuit with shorts. Nothing that flips up when upside down or catches on equipment, so no dresses or hoods. No socks, shoes or jeans. Hair shoulder length or longer should be tied up.

Do I have to stay in the gym with my child?

Yes, for Babynastics, Mini Heroes and Super Heroes. Class sizes for these classes are set assuming a parent is taking part. A sibling over 12 can take your place if needed, and only one assistant per child is permitted. Super Flyers is unparented.

Can I watch if I am not in the class?

There is no in-person viewing area because the gym space is set up for the children. Registered families receive a Zoom link and can watch from a phone, tablet or computer.

What do we need to bring on the first day?

A water bottle. There is a fountain but it is outside the gymnasium. Come dressed for class with long hair tied up.

What if my child is between two age groups?

Send us a text at 780-818-8713 or use the contact form. Placement depends on more than age, and we would rather help you get it right the first time.
